Sketches With a Twist

Just a short post to show the latest sketch from Sketches With A Twist and my take of it.

I chose to use hexagons for the sketch.

The photos are of Nicoline, at the time the photos were taken, she had just begun to say "hello" to the world when she was laying the stomach

The paper is left overs from an older Lily Bee series - Picket Fence. I think the series is very versatile. Actually I wish some Danish scrapshops would sell some more of the Lily Bee's series (30 x 30) with all the embellishments.

Here you have the sketch, thanks Janice for a good challenge ;-)

Sadly Janice is leaving our wonderful SWAT-team, so we  are looking for a new sketch designer. Jump over at the blog for further information.

Due to a colleague's illness I now have 2 eveningshifts (Tuesday and Wednesday), so I hope I will manage to get some sleep, which I find rather difficult at the moment.

This weekend we celebrated my DH's birthday. Normally he is not very fond of getting celebrated, but after being a granddad he finds it okay. Funny how things can change when you become grandparents LOL

I used this fabulous sketch created by Janice.

The next layout is created for Crafty Sketches and I used the May sketch.

Here you se my daughter and son during a Christmas celebration a couple of years ago.

This months sketch is created by me. You would make me very proud if you would create a layout and upload it on the Crafty Sketches blog, - so GO FOR IT ;-D

Claus.... LCTS

Hi everyone. Have you seen the new LCTS sketch? If not, well... here it is :-)

I used the sketch for a layout with a photo of my son, Claus. The photo is a couple of years old. He is studying at the Pharmaceutical Faculty and at the moment he is finishing the thesis in Uganda, Africa. I miss him very much, the internet and electricity are very unstable, but we are trying to Skype now and then.
He and some friends are playing in a band, so I think the guitars fits the layout very well.

Thanks for stopping by :-D

Crafty Sketches... a little late...

I've been out of town for some days, so I'm late presenting the April Crafty sketch. The April sketch is created by Kim Kendell and I really loved working with it. Here you have my interpretation of it.

The photos are from a daytrip to a beautiful little island called Samsø. Together with 4 scrapfriends I visited a scrapshop Hobbyboden and took time for some photoshoots. I used some papers and embellishments from Webster Pages which was in a monthly kit from My Scrapbook Nook.

I used this super sketch, why not give it a try and upload your work over at Crafty sketches?

I hope you will enjoy the last day of Easter :-)

Hugs,
Kirsten

Sketches With A Twist....

I don't think it is spring that characterizes the weather today. Maybe it's because I'm not feeling quite well as I have got the flu.

Well, 1st. April means time for a new sketch from Sketches With A Twist, and here it is:

This time I decided the twist and it is: Use mesh on your project, it could be Magic Mesh, mesh from a bag of fruit or some kind of mesh you find in your household.

I dug down into the pictures from my trip to Tivoli in October 2011 and made this layout.

I used papers from the Echo Park series "A Walk In The Park". The black mesh I used as a matte the picture is from a bag of onions. I stapled the mesh to the cardstock.

The Halloween banner is from Purple Pumpkin.

It's almost Easter. I am really looking forward to some hollidays, this year I'm lucky as I don't have to go to work during the Easter, so there is plenty of time for celebration together with our family.

I wish you all a Happy Easter :-D

Hugs,
Kirsten

Let's Capture These Sketches.......

There is a new sketch ready for you over at Let's Capture These Sketches and here is my take on it. I created a page of my wonderful little granddaughter.

On the photo she is only 2 days old, she is still at the hospital wearing the much toooo big hospitalclothes. I wonder why there isn't some babyclothes available in smaller sizes ..... LOL

The background paper is an old page from American Crafts and the rest is left overs, which I think matches the photo perfectly. Except the white lace and Washi tape is everything else on this page older stuff.

Close up of the little cute ducks

.... and here you have the sketch. You can get a lot of inspiration how to use it over at the LCTS blog.

I wish you a wonderful Sunday.

Kirsten

LCTS/Crafty Sketches ......

Today I have two layouts to share with you. Both are DT-work and the first one is for Let's Capture These Sketches with photos of my newborn granddaughter. On the photos she is 24 hours old. Isn't she adorable ? :-D

I used the latest LCTS sketch

and here it is

The cute little tiger button is from Purple Pumpkin

The second layout is DT-work for Crafty Sketches.

I'm longing for Spring so I dug into the old photos and found some with Spring flowers and found some old Sassafras papers in my stash and cut out the flower swirls. The letters are cut-outs from a QK alphabet (Flirt), which I borrowed from one of my scrapfriends Tina.

At first I thought the March sketch was a little difficult, but it I had a lot of fun working with it. Thanks for a great sketch Jules ;-)

See you soon.....

Hugs,
Kirsten

Crafty Sketches... Walking over Tower Bridge....

Right now it is freezing 14C in Denmark, so it is terribly cold - perfect weather for sitting indoors scrapping :-D

Over at Crafty Sketches the February sketch is revealed and I made this layout from London.

We took a stroll over Tower Bridge and we went in the middle of the roadway as the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic because there were a filming going on on the Thames.

A yo-yo flower

Here is the sketch

This was all for now.

SWAT - På tur til Lübeck/A Trip to Lübeck....

The February sketch from Sketches With A Twist is now revealed.

This months twist is
You must use something Green on your Layout or Card

I had some photos from a trip to Lübeck in Germany in 2009 which I thought went well with the sketch, so I ended up creating this layout.

In Lübeck there are many small beautiful alleys

The papers are left overs from a class I had with Celine Navarro on a Danish Scrapbooking Convention. They are from the old BG Wander series. I think the series are perfect for travel layouts.

A couple of handmade flowers

Right now it is very exciting who is going to be the January winner over at SWAT. If you want the chance of winning the February price from our generous sponsor you just have to send in your take on the sketch.

Can't wait to see what you come up with :-D

LCTS - Lunch in Luke Skywalkers room......

Are you ready for reveal of another fabulous sketch from Lets Capture These Sketches?

Here is my interpretation of it:

It is another layout from our trip to Tunisia, the title is Lunch in Luke Skywalkers room. We had lunch in the same room (in a cave) where some scenes from the very first StarWars movie was shot in the Matmata area in South Tunisia. The room is now a restaurant. It was very interesting to visit the area and see how people still live in caves. Nowadays some of the caves are like modern houses inside, but a lot are still quite authentic.
The menu was Brick a L'ouef, turkey with vegetable sauce and rice and watermelon for dessert.

I think you should check out what the design team has created from the sketch over at Lets Capture These Sketches :-D

Hope you enjoy the weekend :-D

Lets Capture These Sketches

I am very honored to present my very first layout as a DT-member at Let's Capture These Sketches :-D

Firstly I would like to present the sketch created by Natalie Roy.

The sketch

October 2011 I was in Copenhagen to visit my son, and I spent a few hours in Tivoli (an amusement park) where they were celebrating Halloween. I shot some photos of the Tivoli Parade, as you see I met Harlequin and Columbine, Pierrot and a kind witch.

Here is my take on the sketch. I chose the colors from Harlequin and Columbines clothes.

Closeup

Why not jump over at Let's Capture These Sketches and give the sketch a try. It is amazing how different the designers has interpreted the sketch and there really is a lot of inspiration to get.

I wish you a happy weekend - thanks for stopping by :-D

Well, I know I'm late presenting the January sketch from Crafty Sketches.... sorry!.. ;-D

I created this layout with another photo from out trip to Tunesia where the Camel ride out into the Sahara Desert was one of the highlights. The Camels need a rest so we made a photo-stop. The boy in the green T-shirt is my son, Claus ;-D

A closeup

And here it is - the sketch created by sweet Annette Gearside. Thanks Annette, it was a great sketch to work with :-D

I wish you a wonderful weekend :-D

Sketches With A Twist # 1

May I present the very first sketch from Sketches With A Twist? The twist is your layout must have a 2 font title.

It is a great sketch and it is very easy to work with, I really think you should give it a try ;-D

Even if the winter is very mildly my take is a winter layout with a photo from last year.
